U.S. will help repair decimated Ukraine electric grid; rumors of Russian mobilization in Kherson grow

Temperatures are plummeting in Ukraine as each day passes. The capital Kyiv can expect temperatures below freezing this week, with even colder weather in the countryside. Meanwhile, Ukraine's energy infrastructure remains destroyed in places and severely damaged and compromised in many parts of the country.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced $53 million in fresh assistance to help restore Ukraine’s power grid. Blinken arrived in Romania on Monday evening ahead of meetings with NATO allies and Group of Seven foreign ministers.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told some NATO diplomats visiting Kyiv that transformers are the biggest element of the country's power infrastructure that needs to be restored.

Speculation is mounting that Russia could soon try to mobilize men in the occupied part of Kherson, in southern Ukraine.

The Center of National Resistance said Monday that "Russians are bringing riot police to carry out the mobilization of men in the southern temporarily occupied territories." It said this could take place in December. Ukraine called on residents in the region to leave the region immediately so they don't "become a resource for the enemy."

What Is Data Literacy, and Why is it so Important for Your Business?

Data literacy is the proficiency in reading, interpreting, and communicating data findings and insights in context, with an understanding of where the data came from, how it was processed and analyzed, and the tools and techniques used to do so. Advanced data literacy skills also include the ability to make business recommendations and predictions based on this data analysis.

What is data litracy ?
Data literacy is the proficiency in reading, interpreting, and communicating data findings and insights in context, with an understanding of where the data came from, how it was processed and analyzed, and the tools and techniques used to do so. Advanced data literacy skills also include the ability to make business recommendations and predictions based on this data analysis.
Tips for improving data literacy at your organization
Here are a few steps that any organization can take to start improving data literacy right away, according to Gartner [2]:

Identify the most fluent data communicators in your organization. Before turning to outside resources, you should comb your existing organizational chart for employees who can share their knowledge with those who can benefit from it. This offers several benefits: it’s more budget-friendly to leverage talent that is already on the payroll, and these employees have likely already built relationships across teams. Your BI team is an obvious place to start looking, but don’t overlook other, less obvious teams. For example, your marketing team likely has several employees who are data literate from working with marketing analytics.

Search for data communication problem areas. To make the best use of your time and resources, it’s important to seek out target areas for your data training efforts. Talk to team leaders to uncover missed opportunities where poor data communication led to a failure to use analytical insights. This is also a good time to conduct a business-wide data literacy assessment (more on that in the next section).

Use data ambassadors to lead data education sessions. Using the data communicators that you identified in step one and the problem areas that you uncovered in, set up training sessions to close gaps where data communication barriers have led to missed opportunities. These sessions should be fun and open, rather than formal and prescriptive. Incorporate games and quizzes rather than sticking to a business-like presentation.

Move onto data workshops as a next step. Once your less data-literate employees have become a little more comfortable working with data, it’s time to let them get their hands dirty. Ask participants to bring real-life scenarios from their work where data insights could be useful. Encourage participants to use data terminology as much as possible, and share lessons across teams. Hopefully, you’ll even surface some projects that can be taken on by your BI team.

Encourage data and analytics leaders and their teams to lead by example. Holding education sessions and workshops is a great way to improve organizational data literacy, but it’s not the finish line. Improving data literacy is an ongoing journey, and your data and analytics leaders should focus on continued improvement by encouraging their colleagues to use the language of data in all relevant business situations.

Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson dishes on the life of an NFL coach -- on and off the field -- in his new memoir

Just about every offseason, various NFL coaches, general managers and owners drive through the Everglades seeking wisdom at the end of an ordinary, 20-mile stretch of road into the Florida Keys.

It's the only route to encounter Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson, whose accolades include a national championship with the University of Miami and two Super Bowl titles with the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson's proven knack for team building and talent evaluation is what the visitors ultimately seek, as if that knowledge were the fountain of youth for an unforgiving league Jerry Glanville famously coined, "Not For Long."

Bill Belichick, an NFL coach since 1975 and a six-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, has remained close with Johnson throughout the decades and frequently makes offseason sojourns to South Florida. If you ask Johnson, Belichick is the coach whose philosophies most resemble his own -- despite the obvious difference in their public personalities. And Belichick's visits are just as calculated as you'd imagine.

"He always has an agenda," Johnson told NFL.com last week over a video call from his natural habitat. "He wants to talk about doing contracts, or he wants to talk about drafting players, evaluating talent, you name it. He always has it scheduled, as far as what he wants to talk about."

Johnson chronicles the visits from Belichick, among others, in the opening chapter of his new book, Swagger: Super Bowls, Brass Balls, and Footballs -- A Memoir, which is co-written by sports columnist Dave Hyde. After all, it's those offseason visits that sparked the idea for this project in the first place.

"Originally, I didn't care anything about doing a book," Johnson said. "I did a book after the first Super Bowl, but my attorney, Nick Christin, said, 'You've got so many people, coaches, general managers, owners, come down to the Keys to talk about evaluating talent and building a team.' And then I speak to so many companies about the same thing -- evaluating talent -- and building a successful team. He said, 'You need to write a book and talk about it.' "

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Giants got a reality check in their loss to the Detroit Lions four days earlier.

Now came the gut check.

Because despite all the optimism that surrounded Brian Daboll's Giants for the first three months of the season, and rightfully so, given the best start for the franchise since 2008, they took the field inside AT&T Stadium for their clash on Thanksgiving against the Cowboys overwhelmed by a bunch of uncertainty

So what did that mean for the Giants? It was going to be a tall task to pick up a triumph on Turkey Day, but an opportunity to prove their mettle. They did so for a half, taking a 13-7 lead into the break before failing to hold the Cowboys down. They also lacked the firepower yet again on offense to keep up with Dallas, and a pair of Dak Prescott-to-Dalton Schultz touchdown connections proved too much to overtime in Thursday's 28-20 loss.

Portugal vs Ghana: as it happened

90+10

And that's all! Breathe!

FT: Portugal 3-2 Ghana

Are you OK? Am I OK? Can someone check on Iñaki?

I supposed we asked for goals, right? What a bonkers second half: Portugal went ahead, Ghana equalised, Portugal went ahead and ahead-er, and then Ghana made our eyes explode with the craziest of finishes!

All in all, Portugal will be happy with the attacking show they presented to us in the second half, and the array of talent on the bench means that a stagnant game like we saw in the first 45 minutes can be changed at the drop of a hat

João Félix looked lively, so did Cristiano (who became the first male player to score at 5 World Cups), sometimes, and Bruno did well to knit everything together. William Carvalho gave Portugal a good base from which they could launch their attacks, and Rafa Leão is a very dribbly man.

Ghana will be delighted with the fightback after the lacklustre first half and ultimately they will be disappointed with the result. People were low on their expectations before the tournament but today they've shown that they have a lot of heart and will fight until the end.
